Breathing. Teaching.
It has been busy. Which is obvious given the deafening silence from here. There may be a flurry of posts now. Or maybe not.I've been teaching a lot and I love that. The good folks at the Broken Hill Regional Art Gallery have been very supportive and I have a reasonably regular gig there now. Next to the gallery there is a fabulous big workroom where we have lots of space and good lighting. Just wonderful. We've done some one and two day classes for adults and there is a waiting list for the next one where we explore face canes. One wonderful regular participant tells me I am her secret vice. Our most recent class was the Zap Mama 2 Day Workshop and we played with wild, African inspired colours. I love the way that the people in the class, many with artistic backgrounds in diverse areas such as textiles, ceramics, painting and pottery, take the basic principles they learn in the class and reinterpret them so magnificently-each producing a unique work of art. They made one necklace with the Samunnat stranded seed beads and then a collar style necklace. The pieces all looked so fresh and zingy. Gorgeous stuff. We have chatty times and intense times and then times when all I see is the top of everyone's heads as they intently work on their piece. And I never cease to be amazed at the capacity of polymer to delight. In August I am doing classes in Adelaide and Sydney so please get in touch if you are in either of those places and interested.I've done a couple of children's workshops too. The Glow in the Dark creatures proved to be a big hit and on Sunday we are tackling ladybirds. All fun. Bring it on.
