Taking the plunge

Playing with texture and powdersI have stopped procrastinating, overcome my anxiety and here it is: My first post!In a favourite book of mine, Art and Fear (1993), David Bayles and Ted Orland write:Making art depends on noticing things-things about yourself, your methods, your materials, and your subject matter…Notice the objects that you notice. [The emphasis is mine. It is my blog after all!]I hope that sharing  through this blog will help me to really notice what I notice and to encourage you to as well.  I am the keeper of many journals and they help me to be mindful and reflective.   I write, not only to retain memories, but to see patterns, changes, stories.  This blog will be a kind of journal.   Without being too driven about it (OK, OK stop  laughing you lot!) I'm going to try to post reasonably regularly. Once a week I will share my "Wednesday Work Bench"-just a photo, not too many words, because I love seeing what others are up to when they do that!  Sometimes I will share a quote or image that has inspired me during the week.  And once a week, or thereabouts, I will blog!Generally I will write about what I am creating, what inspires me, what challenges me, what is happening (or not happening!) creatively, what I am reading, and what I am learning.  Like my journals, it will be the notes from the journey.  I'd enjoy your company! And, just because it happens to be Wednesday...I've included a photo of what's on my table today.  I've been reading all about Gustav Klimt and thinking about a (slightly ambitious) wall piece for an exhibition.  This is my research!
