July-October 2019 Classes

The remaining classes for the year will be held at the Ainslie Arts Centre.  Two classes are one day classes running from 10 to 4 and two are one and a half day classes with a first part on Saturday afternoon from 1-5. Most are suitable for beginners and more experienced artists unless stated.  In the context of working on a specific item in a class, you will learn about colour theory, design principles and a range of techniques to use in making your own beautiful work. Photos provide show SAMPLES of what can be made.  I will provide all materials required to complete several items and limited extra materials will be available for purchase.  Class size is limited to ensure lots of personal attention, so payment is required before the class to confirm your place.  Email me here to register your interest and learn more. Spring/ Summer Timetable is:

July 21: ONE MAGIC CANE

This class is designed especially for those who have not yet discovered the addictive delights of polymer clay.  You will learn how to make one cane (not to mention learn what the heck a cane is!), how to stack a cane, how to tweak and cane and how to use all your bits to make something gorgeous.

Cost of class: AUD105 which covers everything you need, access to required tools, morning and afternoon beverages but not lunch. BYO!

August 17/18 (note this class is over 1 1/2 days): SKINNER DIPPING

This will be an absolute cracker of a class.  Suitable for new and more experience clayers, we will be exploring the potential of the Skinner Blend which is a technique for blending colours in a way that yields a beautiful gradation. There are lots of ways you can tweak your blend and lots of ways you can use your blends to create wonderful, complex, rich results. On the first afternoon we will work with black and white to explore value contrasts and blends and on Sunday we will immerse ourselves in colour. This is primarily a technique class so we won’t be outcome driven but you know me, you will have a wearable outcome!

Cost of class: AUD150

September 14/15: ZAP MAMA NECKLACE

Some of you have seen me wear this and you wanted to know how to make your own version.  Well, here it is. The Zap Mama class! Over one and half days you will create the ingredients for making your own vibrant, colourful African inspired necklace. The class fee includes the wonderful multi strand necklace that your gorgeous beads are hung on.

Cost of Class: AUD150

October 13 : SILK SCREENING on polymer

The last Ainslie class of the year is another request. (The lovely ladies doing the bowls class in June basically organised my timetable for me bless them.)  In this day long class we will learn some of the basics about silk screening g onto polymer clay and using the resulting veneers.  Another technique class but with the usual wearable outcome!

Cost of class: AUD105

In October I will be teaching at the Contemporary Craft Retreat at Cotter Dam and then I skedaddle to Nepal to spend time with the Samunnat girls and the lucky ladies doing the Colourful Journey so this will be it for classes until 2020.

Gday Wendy, I have gone through all that my time allows me Searching on your website to find your program for the rest of this year. I live in the Hunter area of NSW and would be interested to see where you have plans to visit and teach.

Am I not looking in the right place? Could you please (if time permits) let me know.

    Great stuff you’re doing.

    Thanks

    Maisie June
